Planning Your Care

You are an Individual

Your hopes, dreams, and aims will help us work together to plan your care. If you choose, your baby’s father, and your other children, can be directly involved in your care. Being an Independent Midwife means I can mould my care to meet your individual needs, rather than expecting you to conform to a centrally planned pattern. I also work closely with Complementary Practitioners, if you wish, to help you promote your health and well-being though pregnancy, birth and new motherhood.

Informed Choice and Control in Decision Making

Through evidence-based discussion and my holistic, woman-centred approach, I aim to empower you to make informed choices about the care options you hope for. This will help you feel more in control of your childbearing experience. The Universe sometimes throws up situations we don’t want or like. Should this occur, I will continue to help you explore the benefits, alternatives and risks associated with any interventions you may be offered by my Obstetric Colleagues. By working cooperatively with GPs, Obstetricians, and other health care providers, I will support you in making decisions that maximise your an your baby’s health.

Initial Consultation

I offer an inital consultation at a time and place that suits us both. You and your partner can meet me and my midwifery colleague, Sarah Ifill, in an informal setting. We can explore your needs, and discuss how to facilitate your birth plans. An initial consultation does not commit you to our entire service package.
